(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK web host Webfusion (www.webfusion.co.uk) has become the latest web hosts to work with Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) to promote the new Microsoft WebsiteSpark initiative, which assists smaller web design and development companies in launching or growing their business by providing better access to the Microsoft web platform.
Originally launched earlier this month, WebsiteSpark delivers Microsoft’s server operating system, free licenses for Microsoft Expression and Visual Studio software, as well as training and access to MSDN newsgroups for free to eligible developers. By partnering with Microsoft in this initiative, web hosts stand to gain new customers interested in Microsoft’s web platform, and they will also be included in Microsoft’s marketing campaigns through a portal scheduled to launch this year.
“We want to offer our customers the best opportunities to take their businesses forward,” Webfusion chief executive officer Thomas Vollrath said in a statement. By promoting the Microsoft WebsiteSpark programme, we will provide those looking to set up their web company with superior functionality, significant value and a huge opportunity to drive new business straight away.”
Joining WebsiteSpark members Fasthosts Internet (www.fasthosts.co.uk), PacHosting (www.pachosting.com) and others, Webfusion offers support for web design and development agencies with up to 10 employees.
“Microsoft is pleased to have Webfusion as a partner in the WebsiteSpark programme,” Microsoft developer platform group director Brian Goldfarb said in a statement. “With WebsiteSpark, web professionals will now have the tools, training and resources they need to compete more effectively in their industry.”
