(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –Cloud hosting provider StratoGen has expanded beyond the UK to introduce its cloud platform in the US, according to an announcement made by the company on Thursday.
StratoGen launched its SHARP cloud platform about a year ago for users to create virtual data centers, including firewalls, networks and virtual machines from a web-based portal. As a service provider partner of VMware, its vSphere 5.0 cluster is built on HP Blade servers, and its disk storage provisioned on NetApp enterprise SAN units configured on RAID DP.
StratoGen initially announced its expansion plans through a blog post in October 2011. In the post, StratoGen says the expansion is driven by “significant interest” from US-based customers. Before the expansion, StratoGen says it dealt with many US customers that wanted UK-based hosting, but now it finds more customers that don’t want their data hosted outside of the US.
StratoGen says it deploys its clusters across its London, UK, and Denver, Colorado, data centers, and that dedicated layer 2 connectivity between StratoGen’s UK and US clouds will provide transatlantic data replication for disaster recovery purposes.
“We are bringing some real innovations to shake up the cloud hosting market in the US,” Karl Robinson, sales director, said in a statement. “Our VMware hosting platform gives you the ability to go way beyond simply hosting virtual machines – you can build and configure firewalls, create routed or internal networks, vApps and much more from a single user interface. What’s more, our unique SHARPlock service provides a facility to add multiple layers of additional authentication, to ensure we are one of the most secure clouds in the industry.”
All clusters include Cisco firewall service and a 100 percent uptime guarantee, according to the press release.
“We’ve taken a no compromise approach to the build out of our VMware Hosting platform. Based on our extensive experience with these enterprise class components in Europe, I’m confident the performance levels and stability of the platform will exceed those of competing services in the US. As always, the StratoGen team of VMware qualified support staff will be available 24/7.”
StratoGen is offering a 25 percent discount off its cloud hosting until January 31, 2012.
