UK Web Host Lumison Acquires DediPower Managed Hosting

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – UK web hosting provider Lumison (www.lumison.net) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired web hosting and colocation firm DediPower Managed Hosting (www.dedipower.com). The acquisition closed on Tuesday, but the terms of the acquisition have no been disclosed. 

According to the press release, this acquisition will see Lumison employ 130 staff across the UK. This is the web hosts second acquisition since it received investment funding from Bridgepoint Development Capital in October 2010. In March 2011, Lumison acquired Blue Square Data.

Lumison says the acquisition of DediPower will bring its combined turnover to about $36 million and will continue its business expansion strategy. 

According to the press release, Lumison’s revenues have grown from $8.4 million to $36 million.

DediPower launched in 1998, and is one of the fastest growing companies in the UK, according to the press release. 70 percent pf DediPower’s revenue comes from managed services, Lumison says.

“The addition of DediPower to the business is a strong strategic and cultural fit and will consolidate our position as a leading player in the IT Managed Services sector,” Lumison Group CEO Mark Howling said in a statement. “The group will remain focused on providing practical, cost-effective solutions to customer business IT issues. Customers increasingly demand reliable IT infrastructure-as-a-service as the need for a scalable and flexible way of working grows; with DediPower’s expertise, Lumison is even better placed to deliver this.”

With the acquisition, Lumison will provide customers with enhanced managed IT services, including dedicated and shared, managed network and colocation services across eight UK data centers, according to the press release.

The UK web hosting market has been ripe with acquisitions lately. Recently, UK web host Adapt received a $47 million investment, The Telx Group was acquired and UK Grid was acquired by TelecityGroup in September for $18 million.
