Heart Internet has launched its Solid State Drive VPS to increase the data transfer speeds and performance of virtual private servers
UK web hosting provider Heart Internet announced on Monday that it has launched its Solid State Drive VPS to increase the data transfer speeds and performance of virtual private servers.
According to Heart Internet, SSD disks are designed for websites and applications that transfer a lot of data, such as database and application servers, large ecommerce stores and websites with a volume of static content such as CSS files and images.
Servers with SSD can offer I/O rates and access times that can’t be achieved with disk-based systems. Last year, web host LiquidWeb added SSD to its Smart Servers offering.
“We are very excited to launch our SSD VPS, especially given that it is exclusive to Heart Internet customers,” Heart Internet director and co-founder Jonathan Brealey said in a statement. “No other UK web host offers VPS this fast, continuing our traditions of introducing innovative products and making sure our customers have the best possible choice when considering VPS hosting.”
Heart Internet’s SSD VPS starts at $25 per month, and includes 20GB of disk space, 1GB RAM and 1 vCPU. Existing customers can upgrade their current VPS to an SSD VPS.
Heart Internet VPS uses the latest generation of Dell PowerEdge servers, Intel Xeon processors, and 16 Intel Xeon cores for heavy server workloads.
Recently, Heart Internet released a study that finds 61 percent of the general public in the UK doesn’t know what web hosting is. Based on the intent of this study, it is clear that Heart Internet has a diverse range of customers with a much different set of requirements.
