(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The UK-based operation of web hosting provider 1&1 Internet (www.1and1.com) announced late last week that it has launched two new versions of its business website building and hosting tools, designed to better address the needs of small businesses and entrepreneurs.

1&1 says its MyBusiness website packages are all built around the company’s template-based site-building tool, which enables the fairly simple creation of a kind of bare-bones website based around a selection of business types (such as architect, building contractor, gardener, coffee shop).

It’s similar to many of the features Parallels introduced in one of the more recent releases if its Site Builder tool. It’s possible that the MyBusiness site builder is based on the Parallels tool, but difficult to say for sure. It’s entirely likely that these kind of simple business-type-based tools with pre-packaged content are quickly becoming the standard for DIY site builders.

The new MyBusiness package – offered at £9.99 per month – bundles the same functions as the former, including a free domain, 200 email accounts, unlimited web space and traffic, and adds a visitor counter and guest book. It also offers a “Plus” version at £19.99 per month, which includes an image gallery, and RSS news feeds that can be incorporated into the site.

The Plus version also includes a newsletter tool and a product catalogue tool, along with several other functions.
