A diagram of StratoGen's hybrid cloud solution
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK cloud hosting provider StratoGen (www.stratogen.net) announced on Wednesday it has launched a range of security features designed to enhance cloud security and help prevent malicious attacks.
The new security service comes a month after StratoGen launched its hybrid cloud solution with VMware.
The new service called SharpLock is free and available exclusively on StratoGen’s VMware hosting service.
SharpLock offers a flexible layer of security that allows users to implement a wide range of security precautions including restricted IP or VPN access, SSL and automatic lockout. The service also protects access to the extensive VMware vCloud API.
“The security risks involved with public clouds are well known and are often a barrier to cloud adoption,” says StratoGen director Karl Robinson. “One of the most significant issues is privileged user access and the associated lack of security controls. The ease of deployment for most cloud services is a double edged sword as it allows a malicious user or hacker to destroy your entire infrastructure in seconds, if they gain access to your account.”
StratoGen says it is the first major cloud provider to offer this additional layer of security. The company operate a next generation platform that allows users to create entire virtual data centers in the cloud including virtual machines, firewalls and networks.
Built on VMware vSphere 4.1, the service is available in multiple data centers and offers a 100 percent uptime guarantee.
SharpLock is available now on all StratoGen cloud hosting products.
