Cloud storage provider TwinStrata announced on Thursday it has released the version 4.7 of its CloudArray software, which enables customers to access production snapshots of their data remotely.
TwinStrata CloudArray 4.7 is equipped with new accelerated cache reload capabilities which significantly simplifies disaster recovery and testing.
The new version also provides improved encryption key protection, fully integrated support for clever safe’s dsNet dispersed storage technology and support for Keystone authentication for OpenStack platforms.
TwinStrata extends its CloudArray Disaster Recovery as a Service capability, which it added in May, enabling organizations to more easily test their DR plans by providing access to in-cloud, production snapshots of their data from a secondary CloudArray.
As a result, customers can perform fire drills without shutting down their primary site, which ultimately streamlines the process and reduces the impact of such tests on day-to-day operations.
This new capability works particularly with TwinStrata’s CloudArray DRaaS, as well as all supported cloud environments.
Organizations can also use the new capability to access production snapshots at a remote physical location, and these snapshots can also be used for non-DR purposes for organizations that want to conduct online analytics on the data.
CloudArray 4.7 enables users to accelerate the population of the cache with data from the cloud, which reduces the inherent cloud latency and boosts its overall performance.
The new version also offers new features to improve overall security and compliance with such regulations as HIPAA, including stronger encryption technologies to ensure the security of cloud-based data, storing encryption keys outside of the cloud storage, and ensuring that these encryption keys are password-encrypted.
CloudArray 4.7 also supports Cleversafe’s dsNet object storage platform, as well as authentication using OpenStack’s Keystone technology, providing users with greater flexibility.
“Traditional disaster recovery plans suffer from three distinct challenges: high costs, long recovery times and complex testing,” said Nicos Vekiarides, CEO of TwinStrata. “CloudArray cloud-integrated storage addresses each of these directly, making DR affordable, manageable and simple.”
Available in September, TwinStrata CloudArray 4.7 can be purchased on a monthly subscription that includes the CloudArray software license, 24-hour support and TwinStrata’s CloudArray Disaster Recovery as a Service.
CloudArray Cloud Storage Subscription includes the cost of cloud storage and all transfer fees for a single, integrated monthly cost of $0.19 per GB.
Additionally, TwinStrata has a Bring Your Own Cloud CloudArray Subscription option, which starts at $500 per month and includes everything but the cloud storage, making it an ideal choice for those companies that have their own relationship with a cloud storage vendor.
Users can now try a 14-day free trial version of TwinStrata 4.7, which can be downloaded on TwinStrata’s website.
