(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications firm tw telecom (www.twtelecom.com) announced on Monday it has opened a new data center in the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park in Malta, New York, according to a report by The Business Review.
The teleco is using 13,000 square feet of data center space at STEP park, which is owned by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. The colocation facility provides back-up communication services to customers.
Tw telecom has 29 employees at the site, including staff who have relocated from an office on Airline Drive in Colonie.
The company first announced it would open the data center at STEP park in April 2009. Tw telecom has received $70,000 in NYSERDA incentives for deploying energy efficiency technologies in the facility.
“This facility offers reliable data storage, cost-effective IT infrastructure and disaster recovery solutions to a growing client base in the Capital Region,” says Dan Maynard, vice president and general manager for tw telecom’s Albany operations.
Based in Littleton, Colorado, the telecommunications firm provides business Internet, voice and data networking services.
