(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar Tucows (www.tucowsinc.com) announced on Tuesday that it has surpassed 10 million domain names under management, led by its wholesale services group, OpenSRS (www.opensrs.com).
OpenSRS provides domain name registration services through a reseller network of over 10,000 web hosting providers, ISPs, Internet consultants, and other service providers in over 100 countries.
Tucows attributes the milestone to its large and diverse channel of resellers and the relationships these resellers have with millions of Internet users.
“We owe a lot to our network of resellers who helped us get to this 10 million name milestone,” says Dave Woroch, EVP of sales at Tucows. “Over the past ten years, we’ve been focused on ensuring their success so that they, in turn, can focus on their customers’ success. Our approach has clearly paid dividends for everyone involved.”
Tucows CEO Elliot Noss added that the company’s wholesale model allows it to “tap into both growth markets” while establishing “segments that deliver consistent growth over the long-term.”
In reaching the milestone, OpenSRS joins Enom and Go Daddy as a member of the “10 Million Club”.
The more than 10 million domain names under management includes domain names managed under Tucows’ ICANN accreditation, as well as names Tucows manages for other registrars under their own accreditations.
