October 30, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Just three months after unveiling its OpenSRS brand, Internet services provider Tucows (www.tucows.com) announced on Wednesday the launch of a new service providing access to a large selection of premium domain names from Tucows’ portfolio.
Branded “YummyNames” (www.yummynames.com), the company says the service was created especially with marketers and advertisers in mind.

Considered the “public face” of Tucows’ domain portfolio service group, Yummy Names enables people to search for and obtain the “perfect” domain name for their organization from “tens of thousands of high-quality domain names.”
Some of the domain names available include divorced.com, lemons.com, listener.com, mygarden.com, thepub.com and tool.com.
“It’s important for marketers and organizations to realize they don’t need to settle on a lousy domain name,” says Bill Sweetman, general manager, YummyNames. “Domain names are a vital component to successfully marketing a brand – whether it’s the launch of a new company, website or marketing campaign. A high-quality domain name is short, relevant and most important, easy to remember. We’re excited to open the Tucows portfolio of premium domains to the public through YummyNames. We’re confident users will find their perfect name.”
Potential clients have the option of purchasing a name outright or leasing the domain name for a finite period of time, the latter being sold as an “advantageous” option for short-term or seasonal marketing campaigns. Tucows says YummyNames can also be a useful resource for small to medium business owners.
Near the end of July, Tucows, in a rather flashy manner, re-launched the OpenSRS brand as the name for the company’s reseller services business – the part of the company’s business most relevant to the hosting community.
As part of its OpenSRS marketing efforts, Tucows also released a series of short videos featuring some of the people who work behind the OpenSRS brand.
Earlier this month, Tucows announced it had partnered with web hosting and online marketing services provider Web.com to offer Tucows’ OpenSRS Personal Names service.
