Tucows Adds Sub-Reseller Functions for Domain Resellers

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet services provider Tucows (www.tucows.com) has enhanced its domain registration platform by adding sub-reseller features, letting domain resellers create and manage their own network of domain name resellers.

According to Tucow’s Thursday announcement, this new set of features further extends the reach of OpenSRS (www.opensrs.com), Tucows’ wholesale reseller services division, by leveraging the customer bases of its more than 9,000 active resellers across 100 countries.

“Our approach in developing these new features was to provide a ‘reseller friendly’ platform that allows our Resellers to maintain complete control through a white-label interface, and powerful, flexible pricing system,” Tucows domain services director Adam Eisner said in a statement. “Our implementation allows the Reseller to be front and center, giving them the tools they need to effectively offer their customers the ability to sell domain names alongside their existing hosting reselling programs.”

The complete sub-reseller feature set is provided at no additional cost to all OpenSRS Resellers along with other no-cost extras like managed DNS and WHOIS Privacy. In addition to domain names, OpenSRS resellers are able to sell a complete package of Internet services including Secure Sockets Layer certificates from the world’s leading SSL brands, and email mailboxes offering competitive storage and a full-featured, white-label webmail application.

Earlier this month, Eisner explained how domain sellers can succeed in a seemingly saturated marketplace in an email Q&A with the WHIR.
