(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT security firm TrustDefender (www.trustdefender.com) announced on Tuesday it has name senior anti-virus technologist and cyber-security expert Alex Shipp the vice president of advanced threat research.
Managing from the head office in London, UK, Alex will use his technical skills and hands-on approach to develop TrustDefender’s technology team.
He will lead research and development operations in Europe, helping to grow the TrustDefender lab teams and work to increase capabilities while improving the process of reverse engineering and dissecting malware.
Shipp previously served for 10 years at MessageLabs, which was recently acquired by Symantec. He is best known for using massive computing power to detect malware and currently holds several patents in the area.
He has developed a range of products and led the creation of in-the-cloud detection systems to protect customer’s infrastructure from malware infection via email and Web traffic.

In his new role at TrustDefender, Alex Shipp has been invited by the 2010 Workshop on Cyber Security and Global affairs, taking place on July 7th to 9th in Zurich, Switzerland.
At the event, Shipp will provide a practical overview on how the cyber criminals adopt and bypass security initiatives and what can be done from a security prevention perspective.
Shipp has over 15 years of public speaking experience, having previously presented on viruses, heuristic detection and Internet level scanning at an international level most recently at RSA 2010.
