TP1 Offers Commercially Supported Drupal

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Montreal-based web host and Internet services provider TP1 Internet 360 (www.tp1.ca) has partnered with commercial Drupal (www.drupal.org) support provider Acquia (www.acquia.com), to provide technical support and network services for Drupal to its customers, making it the first host in the province to provide the premium service.

“We are extremely proud to be the first web agency in Quebec to partner with Acquia,” TP1 co-founder Jan-Nicolas Vanderveken said in a statement. “Drupal is the most powerful social publishing system available today. Joining the Acquia Partner program will permit us to create innovative web 2.0 applications for organizations requiring commercially supported software.”

According to TP1′s Thursday announcement, Acquia’s services will expand TP1′s content management system offering by leveraging the Acquia Network for enterprise-class support, site management and 24/7 monitoring.

Founded by Drupal creator Dries Buytaert, Acquia offers commercial services for the popular Drupal social publishing system. This method of open-source delivery should be familiar to those aware of Red Hat (www.redhat.com), which became the world’s largest open-source company by providing support, middleware, applications and management solutions for its core operating system software.

With the number of websites powered by Drupal increasing in recent months, as organizations such as the Walt Disney Company, SonyBMG, Virgin Radio and the US government all rely on Drupal, Acquia helps companies make the most out of their Drupal-powered applications including corporate websites, blogs, wikis, community networks, digital media portals and content management systems.

TP1 powers a number of high-profile Drupal sites including the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, the Dairy Farmers of Canada, FairWinds Partners, the MBA Association of Quebec, Tourisme Laval and the United Nations. As an Acquia partner, TP1 will offer its customers the expertise and support they need to be successful with Drupal.

Also, TP1 customers will be able to use “Acquia Search,” an Apache Lucene-based hosted search service that provides faceted navigation and content recommendations, according to TP1 partner Joseph Blauer. “We are especially excited by the new ‘searchandising’ possibilities offered by Acquia Search,” Blauer said in a statement.
