Serani brings more than 15 years of sales management experience to the Sonian Advisory Board.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Experienced sales executive and channel expert Tom Serani will be guiding user-generated content management provider Sonian (www.sonian.net) as it recruits ISPs and hosting partners to resell Sonian’s cloud-based email archiving and e-discovery services.
RatePoint’s co-founder and global sales vice president, Serani joined the Sonian Advisory Board according to Sonian’s Tuesday announcement. Before joining customer relationship management provider RatePoint, he led the channel sales lines as GeoTrust’s managing director of sales, where he was instrumental in recruiting large ISPs and hosting companies as resellers, as well as more than 9,000 small and medium-sized hosting companies.
At GeoTrust, Serani grew channel sales revenues by nearly 700 percent, accounting for nearly one-third of all GeoTrust’s revenue. When GeoTrust was acquired by VeriSign in 2006, Tom stayed on as director of global accounts, where he managed all channel sales and strategy for the GeoTrust brand.
“Like both GeoTrust and RatePoint, Sonian has a huge market opportunity with ISPs and hosting companies who are eager to OEM a turnkey service that can drive up revenue per customer,” RatePoint global sales co-founder and vice president Tom Serani said in a statement. “As a member of the Sonian Advisory Board, I’ll be collaborating with the Sonian sales team to ensure that the channel community gets onboard with the Sonian Archive service as quickly as possible.”
Before joining GeoTrust, Tom held several senior sales positions at EMC Corporation (www.emc.com). Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in business and communications from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Sonian president and chief executive officer George Nichols said Serani perfectly complements the existing board members. “We expect to leverage his knowledge of the hosting industry as we build channel sales into a large component of the overall Sonian business,” Nichols said in a statement.
