October 3, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Time Warner Telecom Inc. (www.twtelecom.com), a provider of metro
r
and regional optical broadband networks, today announced an agreement to
r
provide fiber optics services to Digital River, an e-commerce outsource
r
provider.
r
r
Under terms of the two-year agreement, Digital River’s data center will use
r
155 Mb of Internet access through an OC-3 fiber loop that Time Warner
r
Telecom built. Time Warner Telecom is combining the OC-3 network with a
r
Dense Wave Division Multiplexing solution that allows Digital River to
r
increase capacity on its fiber connection and use it more efficiently.
r
r
“The fact that Time Warner Telecom owns and operates its own fiber network
r
was the biggest selling point for us,” said Marty Boos, Digital River’s
r
chief architect and vice president of information services. “Our search for
r
a primary bandwidth provider focused on scalability, reliability and
r
support. Time Warner Telecom exceeded our service requirements at a
r
competitive price.”
