(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — As part of its continued program of international expansion, cloud-based IT services provider ThinkGrid (www.thinkgrid.com) has established new points of presence in Sydney, Australia, which is known as the country’s technology hub and is a key centre for Internet distribution and ICT services exports in the country.
Headquartered in the UK, ThinkGrid is a channel-focused provider of cloud-based provider of hosted virtual desktop infrastructure, private clouds, Software as a Service, Hosted Exchange and SharePoint, storage and virtualisation. According to ThinkGrid’s Thursday announcement, two Sydney data center sites are now live and able to provide low latency services not only to Australia but to the entire Asia-Pacific region.
“Our new data centre facilities in Sydney will extend and improve our capability to provide IT services from the cloud, and will allow us to reach more customers than ever before,” ThinkGrid chief executive officer Rob Lovell said in a statement. “With their specialised knowledge of the country’s IT market, our network of partners will be able to bring the advantages of truly scalable cloud computing services to many of the 1.8 million Australian SMEs who do not have the financial resources of larger enterprises.”
ThinkGrid has already signed up several new local partners including Australian hosting services provider Skybox (www.skybox.com.au), which has enlisted ThinkGrid as its primary delivery partner.
“ThinkGrid was a logical choice for us to partner with as they are able to provision the full range of cloud services that a typical business can benefit from,” Skybox director Simon Probert said in a statement. “This relationship also gives Skybox clients confidence that their services are being delivered on a tried and tested enterprise-grade cloud platform.”
