The Planet Unveils Video Tour

April 16, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Monday the launch of a new online video that features a virtual tour of its data centers in Houston and Dallas, Texas.

Narrated by The Planet’s chairman and CEO Douglas J. Erwin, the video delivers a look at the inner workings and sophistication of The Planet’s six data centers that house more than 45,000 servers and highlights the key systems in place in each data center to ensure 100 percent uninterrupted network and power service for customers, says the company.

“Documenting the level of security, organization and processes in place, the video underscores The Planet’s commitment to maintaining well-managed facilities that ensure continuous uptime,” says Steve Kahan, VP of marketing at The Planet. “Each data center is scrutinized from top-to-bottom and we offer a level of redundancy that’s unparalleled. This video highlights the scope of our on demand IT infrastructure so that customers who have never had an opportunity to visit our facilities can actually see where their servers are housed and how well they’re maintained.”

The Planet also recently announced the results of a survey that reveals that small-to-medium sized businesses using hosted IT achieve stronger business benefits from their IT investments and are typically more satisfied compared with those who manage technology in-house.
