The Planet to Expand Facilities

February 20, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Tuesday data center expansions in both its Dallas and Houston, Texas operations.

The additions, 25,000 square feet in total, bring the company’s total data center footprint to 175,000 square feet. Through the end of 2007, the company says it is planning additions that will bring its total footprint to 215,000 square feet. Approximately 60 percent of the space is located in Dallas, with the remainder in Houston, says The Planet.

“Our customers in the SMB community require reliability, scalability and network performance so they can confidently grow their businesses using our world-class data centers and on demand IT infrastructure,” says Douglas Irwin, chairman and CEO of The Planet. “As we continue to expand operations, our goal is to ensure we provide quality products, professional service and the industry’s best support so that every client company operates at peak efficiency.”

The company says the Dallas facility is currently operational and the Houston data center will begin serving customers by the end of March.
