The Planet Offers KVM-over-IP Deal

March 11, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced last week it is offering a new promotion that enables customers to add Lantronix SecureLinx Spider KVM to any server platform for $30 per month. The promotion, which runs through March 31 or while limited promotional supplies last, includes free setup — a $100 value.

“KVM-over-IP is an ideal solution for anyone who wants virtual, hands-on access to their server 24/7,” says Urvish Vashi, director of product management for The Planet. “With this promotion, customers can gain remote management capabilities at a discounted price to ensure their business is always up and running.”

The KVM-over-IP (keyboard/video/mouse) gives customers direct, BIOS-level access to their dedicated servers over a secure Internet connection. The solution is available across The Planet’s entire server portfolio and in each of its six world-class data centers.

The Planet also announced it is participating in the Montgomery Technology Conference, held March 11 to 12 at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, California. Chairman and CEO Douglas J. Erwin and CFO Kevin Klausmeyer will represent the company, with Erwin presenting a business overview on March 12 from 2:30 to 3 p.m. PST.

The Planet announced last week it is offering Dual Xeon 2.4 servers for $149 per month, a cost savings of 29 percent.
