The Planet Offers Bandwidth Promotion

May 29, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Tuesday it is offering a limited-time promotion on unmetered bandwidth for new server orders, available now through June 12.

For $50 per month, customers gain unlimited access to a 10MB uplink from The Planet’s multiple Tier-1 providers, along with its 100 percent uptime service level agreement.

The Planet offers direct connections to the Internet through several Tier-1 telecom providers, ensuring that customers are able to bypass congested transit networks, and reduce the network path between the IT infrastructure and customers or end users. The end result is lower latency, maximum speed and reliability.

“Many of our customers operate high-traffic e-commerce sites, which require high bandwidth availability to ensure peak performance at peak times,” says Urvish Vashi, director of product management for The Planet. “Bandwidth overages are similar to cell phone overages which translate to additional costs for customers. The Planet delivers a ‘no surprise guarantee’ with unmetered bandwidth at a nominal price, which enables SMB customers to prepare for seasonal or unexpected spikes in traffic.”

The company announced last week it is offering a free setup promotion on all servers for 72 hours.
