(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web analytics firm Netcraft (www.netcraft.com) announced on Tuesday that The Planet (www.theplanet.com) and Hosting 4 Less (www.hosting4less.com) have the most reliable hosting company sites.
Both sites responded to all but one of Netcraft’s requests in January.
In December, Swishmail, iWeb Technologies and WestHost had the most reliable hosting company sites.
Though this marks the first appearance for The Planet in quite some time, Hosting 4 Less tied Server Intellect as the most reliable site for September 2009.
The Planet, which uses Windows Server 2003 to run its own website, has more than 10 million sites in Netcraft’s Hosting Provider Analysis.
Hosting 4 Less, on the other hand, uses Apache on Linux to serve its own website. The hosting provider has a 99.9 percent uptime guarantee, armed with its own OC48 Sonet Ring connecting its secure data center to the Internet.
Four Web hosts on January’s most reliable hosting company sites lists are running Linux, while three are using FreeBSD and one is using Windows Server 2003.
Netcraft says it measures and posts the response times of 50 leading hosting providers’ sites, measuring the performance levels at 15 minute intervals from separate points around the Internet.
It then calculates the averages over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.
