The Planet Helps Harry Potter Site

July 9, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Monday that unofficial Harry Potter fansite MuggleNet.com (mugglenet.com) is expanding its relationship with the hosting provider in preparation for the upcoming movie “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” and the July 21 release of the final book “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

MuggleNet.com founder Emerson Spartz says the Web site averages more than one million visitors daily, with more during peak operating periods and The Planet is the exclusive Web hosting provider for the Web site. Spartz, also an author, is currently promoting his own book titled “MuggleNet.Com’s What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7: Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Falls in Love and How Will the Adventure Finally End.” Spartz’ book provides insights and predictions on the final Potter novel, which has appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers list for the past 21 weeks in the children’s paperback selections.

“For companies that require streaming media and rich content delivery, The Planet’s data centers and network provide world-class performance to support the most rugged requirements,” says Steve Kahan, VP of marketing and product management with The Planet.  “In anticipation of traffic fluctuations, sites like mugglenet.com easily add additional servers to accommodate traffic spikes.”

Last week, The Planet launched an online video that features a virtual tour of its network.
