The Cloud Backup Opportunity with Roland Sars of BackupAgent

Roland Sars, BackupAgent director of sales and marketing

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In the first session of the afternoon held at Europa-Park’s Magic Cinema, Roland Sars, BackupAgent (www.backupagent.com) director of sales and marketing discussed the importance of backup and storage solutions.

Titled “The Cloud backup opportunity”, the presentation kicked off with a brief background on BackupAgent. He also highlighted the evolution of hosting providers into cloud service providers.

In a recent study by BackupAgent, the company found that 30 percent of SMBs do not make backup plans at all, while 22 percent of the remaining 70 percent that do make backups do so on a daily basis.

From this point on, Sars went into a heavier sales pitch for BackupAgent, where he highlighted the many benefits of the product.

With products directly aimed at hosting providers, BackupAgent offers a private level software that is both multi-tenant and scalable, says Sars.

Sars took a brief look at BackupAgent’s recently released version 4.0. Among the new changes included in this version include retention policies-based platform, improved management console, integration with Kaseya, and automatic filtering of temporary data.

He finally closed his presentation with a look at upcoming developments later this year, including cloud storage enablement, which will result in a disruptive and scalable cloud backup platform, multiple tenants, and the introduction of new languages (Chinese and Turkish).
