The 451 Group Acquires Research Firm Applied Velocity Labs

The 451 Group announced on Tuesday it has acquired strategy, advisory and research firm Applied Velocity Labs for an undisclosed amount.

News of the acquisition comes just a few weeks after The 451 Group acquired mobile research firm Yankee Group for an undisclosed amount from Alta Communications.

Founded by Tony Bishop, Charlotte, North Carolina-based Applied Velocity Labs enables client develop a business-aligned strategy and execution model to effectively combine the business and IT portfolio within a digital infrastructure framework.

According to the press release, Applied Velocity Labs provides “tools, applied research, and expert services to create, align, communicate and govern the execution of targeted enterprise infrastructure strategy, creating differentiated business value for clients.”

The 451 Group has named Bishop the company’s chief strategy officer and co-head of 451 Advisors, which provides advisory services to The 451 Group’s enterprise, IT vendor and service provider clients.

McCarthy, The 451 Group’s chairman and CEO said in a statement. “The convergence of systems, facilities and IT under the umbrella of digital infrastructure is an important dynamic in our industry. Tony Bishop has an excellent track record in helping business and technology executives navigate digital infrastructure challenges. The proprietary Applied Velocity Labs strategic framework will broaden our capabilities and expertise, helping enterprises transform their technology operations to support the evolution of the digital enterprise.”

The companie have a long-standing relationship, as Applied Velocity Labs has been a customer and partner of The 451 Group for years.

By acquiring Applied Velocity Labs, The 451 Group will be able to combine strategy advisory and applied research to help enterprises drive business performance through technology transformation.

In November, The 451 Group named Dr. Katy Ring as head of the organization’s global IT services research and advisory team, which is part of its CloudScape Practice.
