August 21, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Texas.net (texas.net) announced yesterday the opening of a Tier-1 Internet data center (IDC) in Austin, Texas.
The newly acquired facility will give the Austin-based ISP an additional 30,000 square feet to provide infrastructure and disaster recovery services to its customers. In addition to serving as a disaster recovery site, the IDC will provide colocation and enterprise-level Internet access services.
The data center includes five levels of security, biometric access controls and an IP-based, closed circuit TV (CCTV) surveillance system. Additionally, the IDC incorporates redundant uninterrupted power supplies and HVAC units, two generators and high-sensitivity smoke detection systems.
The new facility brings Texas.net?s IDC count to four. Prior to its opening, Texas.net operated two other data centers in Austin and one in Houston, Texas ? facilities that the company reports are nearing full capacity.
"More and more customers are evaluating their business continuance plans and as a result are seeking sound disaster recovery and Internet data center services," said Jonah Yokubaitis, CEO and co-founder of Texas.net. "We've found the IDC itself becomes a primary factor in the customer's decision-making process."
The Texas.Net IDC is located at 7401 East Ben White Blvd. in Southeast Austin.
