January 29, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator and managed IT infrastructure solutions provider Terremark Worldwide (terremark.com) announced on Monday it is offering managed optical services that will enable its carrier customers to significantly lower their costs of interconnection and monitoring of their optical circuits.
After extensive testing, Terremark deployed a multi-service optical switching platform that integrates seamlessly into the customers’ networks to deliver a range of optical and network services. Terremark has consolidated disparate network elements into a single platform, allowing its customers to select from cost-effective managed optical services such as multiplexing and de-multiplexing services, international gateway services, optical ring termination services, advanced optical monitoring services and professional optical services.
The managed optical services enable customers to reduce capital expenditures for optical network elements, lower operating expenses in connection with troubleshooting, configuration and alarm management, lower interconnection rates and provides flexibility when interconnecting between North American standard facilities and international standards.
“In the past, carriers could only interconnect with one another using multiple network elements and management systems,” says Marvin Wheeler, COO for Terremark Worldwide. “With Terremark’s Managed Optical Services, we have now provided all the required components for them to deploy networks at a significantly lower cost.”
