(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator, and relatively recent Verizon acquisition, Terremark announced on Friday that it had named chief operating officer Nelson Fonseca its new president, succeeding departing president Kerry Bailey, who was named chief marketing officer for Verizon Enterprise Solutions.

Verizon Enterprise Solutions is a new global organization that will oversee all business, government and wholesale operations for the company, across its wireless and wireline businesses.

As Terremark’s COO, Fonseca focused on driving operational efficiencies and ensuring the company’s focus on execution. Before being named COO, Fonseca was president of Terremark’s US public sector business unit, overseeing the company’s federal business and its state and local government initiatives. He also served as senior VP of sales for Terremark federal group and VP of sales for Terremark Worldwide.

Verizon first announced plans to acquire Terremark in January of this year, for about $1.4 billion, a deal that closed in April. The companies have been aligning management roles and resources since then, including the appointing of Bailey as head of the company back in May.

“When Verizon initially acquired Terremark, one of the main drivers was the outstanding leadership team that was in place, and Nelson will continue to be an invaluable asset for the company,” says Bob Toohey, Verizon Enterprise’s COO, quoted in the press release. “Nelson is a dynamic leader that will continue to drive Verizon’s global cloud strategy and deliver the enterprise-class IT infrastructure solutions that large companies and government agencies require today.”
