Terra Lycos Launches Domain Registration Services

April 29, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain name registration provider Register.com Inc. (register.com) announced on Monday that it has formed an agreement with global internet network Terra Lycos (lycos.com) whereby Terra Lycos will use Register.com?s Global Partner Network technology to power a system through which Terra Lycos users can easily register a URL for their personal or business use.

Terra Lycos, says Register.com, has created its own domain registration site, called ?Lycos Domains,? (www.domains.lycos.com) where customers can search and register .com, .net, .org, .biz and .info domain names directly from the Lycos Network for $34.95 per year. Subscribers to the Tripod and Angelfire Web publishing sites can also link their Web sites to their domain names and receive email forwarding based on the domain.

The agreement also provides for Register.com?s Corporate Services group to protect and manage Terra Lycos corporate domain names and brands on the Internet. As a corporate customer, says Register.com, Terra Lycos will have direct access to account managers who perform high volume registration and portfolio management services, worldwide brand protection, bulk domain transfers, account masking and other special services.

"During the past several months, we have rolled out many subscription-based services for our millions of Tripod and Angelfire users. Our full suite of services includes accessing extra diskspace and bandwidth, building Web sites without ads and providing easy search engine submission with Lycos Insight," said Katie Rae, vice president of web publishing and community for Terra Lycos. "Domain registration is the latest in a series of new web publishing subscription services that our Terra Lycos Network of users are telling us they want. By teaming up with Register.com, our users can now register their domain names quickly and easily in one place."
