(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center firm Telx announced on Thursday its plans to build a data center adjacent to its 100 Delawanna Avenue location in Clifton, New Jersey. Telx says it will break ground in late 2011 and the building, including phase one of its colocation space, will be ready in late Q4 2012.

This news comes a couple weeks after Telx announced a partnership with Colocation America so Colocation America can sell Telx services to its customers.

According to Telx, the three-story data center will add 215,000 gross square feet of space to Telx’s C3 Cloud Connection Center portfolio. The center will provide 100,000 plus square feet of colocation space to meet the requirements of its customers.

Telx’s new data center will offer Telx’s InterConnection Center services to delivery connectivity solutions and enable customers to deploy and leverage hybrid cloud solutions, according to the press release.

Telx says its standalone data center will be constructed with its development partner Mountain Development Corp. and the building will be constructed in accordance with LEED requirements. Telx says this project will add 20-plus jobs to the Clifton economy as well as more contracting jobs.

“The construction of this flagship facility demonstrates Telx’s long-term strategy to expand data center and interconnection services and gives our customers more choice and flexibility in available power density,” Eric Shepcaro, CEO of Telx said in a statement. “The newest addition to our C3 portfolio will share all of the dense carrier connectivity at 100 Delawanna, as well as direct interconnection to Telx’s other popular New York facilities at 111 8th Avenue and 60 Hudson, significantly increasing the value of Telx colocation for our customers. In addition, customers will be able to connect to the Telx CBX Online Marketplace to discover and purchase other services including transport, managed services and unified communications from an unprecedented number of choices.”

The plan for the building will allow for customizable, configurable and accelerated market entry data center deployment, according to the report. The data center infrastructure will include pods of varying power density in order to be customizable to each customer’s need.

100 Delawanna Avenue currently offers customers the ability to license private cages and cabinets with connections to more than 400 carriers, business exchanges and enterprises through a single connection.
