June 24, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator NYC Connect (nyc-connect.com) announced on Thursday that TELEHOUSE America (telehouse.com) would house its NYIIX peering exchange’s new remote extension switch at NYC Connect’s 111 Eighth Avenue facility in New York.
NYC Connect says placing a remote peering switch at the 111 Eighth Avenue location and extending it through a multiple redundant backbone to NYIIX’s base at the Broadway Center enables companies located at 111 Eighth Avenue to peer easily with NYIIX’s more than 65 members and the more than 180 companies at the Broadway Center.
“Joining forces and placing our new NYIIX remote switch at NYC Connect’s 111 Eighth Avenue location enabled us to create the only seamless fabric offering a 10 GigE interface speed,” says Michael Vallone, head of marketing for TELEHOUSE. “Our new location within NYC Connect enables us to be among an impressive roster of major partners. The end result is enhanced peering opportunities and a more robust end-user experience for all parties involved.”
