(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications provider Cablevision Systems (www.cablevision.com) announced last week it has partnered with web hosting provider Network Solutions (www.networksolutions.com) to offer its hosting services among Cablevision’s Optimum Business Benefits program.

Now, small businesses can sign up for Network Solutions’ smart online tools to manage domains, improve their Web presence and boost Internet marketing efforts.

Network Solutions joins Cablevision’s existing alliance partners ADP, CardWorks, Citrix Online, FedEx and US Business Technology.

The Optimum Business Benefits program provides greater value for Optimum Business customers that subscribe to both Optimum Voice and Optimum Online, in the form of discounted pricing on products and services.

The program is designed to provide “access to mission-critical business tools to help small businesses run more smoothly, efficiently and cost-effectively,” says the company.

“Similar to Optimum Business, we are committed to fostering small business success,” says Harry Lalor, VP of corporate development at Network Solutions. “With our full suite of online products we help small businesses breakthrough in the competitive online space by providing the tools and resources to start, grow and manage businesses online. We are pleased to provide this unique offer to Optimum Business customers with our domain name registration, Web site design and hosting and search engine marketing and optimization. Small businesses will truly be able to enhance their business on the Web with simple and now, even more affordable, services.”

Network Solutions’ offer for Optimum Business Benefits members includes 50 percent off small, large or unlimited packages for web hosting including domain, email and website builder as well as 50 percent off annual rates for local search visibility.

The partnership signals a growing opportunity for shared hosts to tap into the lucratic small business market by working with telecommunication providers to broaden their customer reach.

In his most recent post, WHIR blogger William Toll addressed the continuing importance of the shared host, particularly when partnering with telecommunicion providers to create greater value for customers.

Toll writes: “I see the major Telco’s finally getting the message and momentum behind their offerings. I often see Verizon FIOS for Business advertising website hosting services (provided by Intuit) on TV commercials very frequently. I suspect Comcast Business Class and others are also seeing some momentum.”
