TelecityRedbus Reports Internet Use
May 1, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to a report released Friday by European data center service provider TelecityRedbus (telecityredbus.com), just over half of UK Internet users say they have any loyalty to any online brand, while 9 out of 10 are unwilling to give a Web site more than three chances to load.
The report found that the top three reasons for moving to an alternative Web site are poor customer service, with 70.8 percent; slow loading time, with 68.9 percent; and non-delivery on items ordered, at 68.5 percent.
The research, commissioned by TelecityRedbus and independently conducted by UK market research company Tickbox, is taken from the findings of a survey of more than 2000 people in March 2006. The results show a detailed overview of the surfing habits of the UK’s online population and illustrate just how integral a functioning and available Web site is to an online business’ reputation and its revenue.
“The typical online business is competing against a vast number of alternative suppliers in a global marketplace,” says Mike Tobin, CEO of TelecityRedbus. “Compounding this is the fact that today’s online consumers are more Internet savvy than ever before. This research demonstrates unequivocally that on-demand’ functionality is crucial to success – they are not prepared to wait or give a company another chance if they feel failed by its online shop window.”
