TelecityRedbus Adds Amsterdam Center

August 2, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European data center operator TelecityRedbus (telecityredbus.com) announced on Thursday that it plans to build a new data center in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The new facility will be launched in two phases, each with approximately 21,500 square feet of net customer space. The first phase is expected to be ready for customers in the second quarter of 2008, with construction of the second phase beginning by 2009.

TelecityRedbus says it is currently waiting for final planning permission for both phases of the site. Including a data center currently under construction in London, the Amsterdam 4 facility will be the company’s 20th data center in Europe.

“Corporate customers are increasingly seeking large and resilient data centers to provide primary hosting, business continuity and disaster recovery services,” says Mike Tobin, CEO of TelecityRedbus. “Market trends such as the growth in internet traffic and the evolving needs of business have resulted in growing numbers of new customers and increasing requirements from existing customers, both of which are driving the increase in demand for high-quality data centers.”
