Tata Reveals Largest Data Center in India

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — India-based global telecommunications provider Tata Communications (www.tatacommunications.com) announced on Wednesday it is currently building what will be the largest data center in India, located in Pune.

The announcement follows the opening of Tata’s 6,000-square-foot Eastern India data center in Kolkata, which is the first commercially available tier III data center of its kind in the region.

The 55,000-square-feet data center will offer a range of services including colocation, managed hosting and storage and a suite of complementary services including managed security services and CDN services.

The Pune data center would reside on Tata Communications’ Tier-I IP backbone enabling it to provide high capacity internet, MPLS and global Ethernet services.

The company has already invested about $2.7 million (Rs.125 crore) for the data center.

Tata will put another $10.9 million (Rs.500 crore) into the center, based on the market demand in three years.

“We are very pleased to announce the availability of the Pune IDC for our domestic and global customers,” says Sunil Joshi, president of India and APAC & MENA at Tata Communications. “The center will provide a state-of-the-art infrastructure for supporting mission-critical environments, with advanced cooling, power, redundancy, and sustainability features to ensure that our client’s critical systems and applications are readily available while optimising energy efficiency.”
