Targeting Web Designers with Jon McCarrick

Jon McCarrick, senior product marketing manager at Parallels

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In his presentation “Targeting Web Designers”, Parallels senior product marketing manager Jon McCarrick discussed the unique issues and needs of the Web designer community and what they are looking for in a hosting service provider.

McCarrick used real case studies involving Web designers from around the world to show how important this market is for hosting providers.

With over 1 million Web designers around the world and 286,000 in the US alone, he stressed that Web designers are arguably more important as a customer market than shared hosting providers.

To support this, McCarrick noted that over 30 percent of Parallels Plesk Panel customers are Web designers.

After offering many other statistics and characteristics of Web designers, McCarrick got into what would be the focal point of his presentation: the tools that hosting providers can use to target Web designers.

The major tools include content management systems such as Mambo and Drupal, coding languages such as PHP and Perl, client services such as email and FTP, client management such as website resource creation and analytics, website widgets such as blogs and photo/video galleries, extended services such as VoIp,

McCarrick talked about how Parallels Plesk Panel 10 and other Parallels products and add-ons can help target Web designers, offering all the tools they need.

He discussed the benefits of integrated sitebuilder, Parallels Plesek Panel 10 SiteBuilder, which includes 60 pre-written templates, on-screen editor, and a color selector.

The integrated sitebuilder acts as an intuitive designer for those customers who may not have the skillset or experience to design websites.

McCarrick summarized his presentation with the inevitable sales pitch where he reiterated the notion that Parallels Plesk Panel 10 “creates flexibility, adds functionality and saves time,” and encouraged attendees to become a Parallels partner.
