“This expansion allows T-Systems to gain access to the large customer base that is colocated in Equinix’s hubs, increasing our flexibility for interconnection with our customers, and this significantly expands our peering footprint with the major US providers,” says Kevin Mulholland, senior vice president for the Americas, T-Systems, International Carrier Sales & Solutions.

The deployment will also allow T-Systems to offer its Layer 2 transport solutions to additional carriers around the world. European carriers will be able to connect via T-Systems new MPLS-based Ethernet service at the IBX centers to set up their own peering connections with all of the major networks available at Equinix. Internet service providers operating within Equinix’s centers will be able to reach major European Internet Exchange points through T-Systems via the same connections.

“The expansion of T-Systems operations to five of our IBX centers in the US supports Equinix’s mission of providing core Internet hubs where the networks of the world come together to exchange traffic,” says Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. “T-Systems can leverage this to buy and sell services from aggregated carriers, ISPs and other network service providers.”
