July 11, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Symantec (symantec.com) announced this week that the Security Operations Centers (SOC) operating within its Managed Security Services division has been awarded certification under the British Standard BS 7799.

Certification under this standard requires the establishment, implementation, and documentation of an effective information security management system.

Symantec?s Alexandria-based SOC is the latest to be certified under BS 7799.

The BS 7799 certification process was completed through an intensive security audit conducted by KPMG Certification Services.

Symantec is a security solution provider with headquarters in Cupertino, California.
