SWsoft Runs Linux Performance Test for Virtuozzo
Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.
September 30, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- SWsoft (sw-soft.com) reported today that Virtuozzo 2.5.1, its virtual private server (VPS) solution, can run more than 5,000 instances of Linux on an Intel x86 server with less than one percentage point of overhead. According to tests conducted at the IBM testing lab, Virtuozzo 2.5.1 allowed each VPS to scale up to 16 CPUs and 64GB of RAM.
The results, the company said, showed that Virtuozzo 2.5.1 helps businesses maximize efficiencies by keeping overhead costs low while optimizing hardware investments and management resources.
The company said it expects similar scalability and reliability levels for Virtuozzo on the Windows platform, scheduled for launch in early 2004.
"Results from the IBM lab show that our virtualization technology is unbeaten in the production server arena in terms of scalability, functionality and real-world cost-savings for our customers," said Serguei Beloussov, CEO and founder of SWsoft. "With several customers already beta testing Virtuozzo for Microsoft Windows we are looking forward to applying our expertise in VPS technology for the hosting industry to the enterprise. We believe the message of lower IT costs and more efficient hardware management can transfer to any business, in any economy."
The newest version of Virtuozzo will also offer enhanced migration capabilities, a full Graphical User Interface (GUI) management tool, advanced back-up options and remote VPS management features.
SWsoft said it is currently making plans to immediately integrate Virtuozzo for Microsoft Windows into its FUSION program, an enterprise server consolidation program launched in July.
