Switch and Data Provides HFN Market Connectivity

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Ethernet data provider Hudson Fiber Network (www.hudsonfiber.com) is launching a new “Exchange Connect” platform for its equity trading market services at Switch and Data’s (www.switchanddata.com) North Bergen, New Jersey data center, providing sub-millisecond access to financial markets.

Network-neutral data center and Internet exchange services provider Switch and Data will provide a 750 microsecond performance guarantee, according to the Monday announcement. With 200 to 400-microsecond access to the leading financial markets, including NYSE/SFTI, NASDAQ, BATS, and Direct Edge, HFN said its new Exchange Connect platform offers high-frequency traders the lowest latency network available.

“In an industry where microseconds matter, enabling clients to increase trade order fill ratios is at the forefront of our concerns,” said Brett Diamond, President of Hudson Fiber Network. “We chose Switch and Data because of its proximity to the markets, access to fiber networks, and its financial ecosystem, which includes leading service providers, and many buy and sell-side firms.”

Premier Ethernet data provider HFN is the most recent carrier to join Switch and Data’s 163,000-square-foot site in North Bergen, enhancing the value of its financial ecosystem and adding to the site’s carrier density. Switch and Data launched its financial services division in March, with the goal of helping provide high-volume, low-latency data center solutions to stock market participants, letting them scale their operations for rising US equities trade volumes, which have been known to exceed 13 billion daily.

Switch and Data’s financial services practice vice president John Panzica said HFN’s Exchange Connect platform sets a new standard for high-speed access to the financial markets. “This relationship with Hudson Fiber Network provides Switch and Data’s financial clients with a single location that provides the lowest latency access all of the leading equities markets,” Panzica said in a statement. “This helps our customers improve performance and minimize expense.”
