SunGard Launches National Network
June 6, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Information availability and business continuity service provider SunGard Availability Services (sungard.com) announced on Tuesday it has launched the SunGard National Network, offering nationwide real-time data management, backup, recovery and restoration.
SNN is a nationwide Ethernet network that connects SunGard’s recovery facilities together and links the facilities to SunGard’s flagship data center, the London Technology Centre. The SunGard National Network recently won Most Innovative Product at the eighth annual UK Business Continuity Awards.
“The reliability of the SunGard network has been proven on numerous occasions, from the London bombings to the Buncefield oil depot explosion,” says Keith Tilley, SunGard UK managing director and SVP Europe, who accepted the award. “In all of the invocations it has received, SunGard has never exceeded 35 percent of the available network bandwidth.”
Using Ethernet as a networking standard, SNN allows SunGard’s information availability infrastructure to build on customers’ own local and wide-area networks to enable seamless, proactive, data protection services and virtually instantaneous response to invocations. SNN also eases disaster recovery to multiple recovery sites, as SunGard customers can recover to any location anywhere in the country.
