June 5, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center solutions provider Sun Microsystems India (in.sun.com) announced on Thursday that it has partnered with India-based managed hosting provider NetMagic (netmagic.com).

Under the partnership agreement, NetMagic will be Sun’s hosting partner to deliver web hosting and managed services to Sun’s customers in their Startup Essentials program for the Indian market.  The company says this agreement marks the first-ever local partnership for the SSE program in India to offer web hosting services Sun’s customers in the country. ”In NetMagic we found a perfect fit,” says K.P Unnikrishnan, Sun’s director of marketing, alliance and teleweb sales, “Sun Microsystems India not only because they have data centers in India but also considering their world class internet data centers combined with advanced technology and professional service capabilities, to deliver mission critical hosted applications to their customers in a secure and seamless manner.”

After offering hosting services for India-based customers, along with the monitoring and management of their technology infrastructure, NetMagic announced in February that it would use its $20 million in financing to launch its global expansion by building its presence in North America.

The company recently partnered with HP to help meet the growing demand for mid-market data center and managed services in India.

Last month, web hosting provider expanded its relationship with Sun Microsystems to offer software as a service to independent software vendors through the Solaris On Demand program.
