“Uses of Streaming and Digital Media enables enterprises to compare their current usage of business and personal applications to the survey results and ask, am I a leader or a laggard?” said Hoch. “Leaders in one application should examine other applications with similar adoption rates for opportunities to increase the leverage of their investments. Laggards can use this analysis to determine where to start.”

According to the report, most business applications with streaming or digital media components have 25 to 35 percent regular usage for such functions as company meetings, distance learning, external corporate announcements and internal executive communications. The report projects this usage in the next year to increase up or beyond 50 percent for many major business applications.

“Our survey shows that, despite ongoing uncertainty and lack of confidence in Internet and IT spending, there is a growing number of vertical industries, corporations, and consumers that are utilizing and consuming more streaming media than ever before,” said Dan Rayburn, executive vice president of Streaming Media Inc.
