(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider StrataScale announced on Monday that users of its infrastructure-as-a-service products and services are now benefiting from two energy-efficient and environmentally friendly data centers.

StrataScale’s computing, network and storage operations are currently hosted within two Sacramento data centers operated by its parent company, RagingWire Enterprise Solutions.

Both facilities have now been recognized for meeting strict environmental standards, allowing them to earnĀ  certifications including LEED Gold, SSAE16 Type II Audited, Energy Star, and PCI Compliant Level 1 Service Provider.

The company’s original 250,000 square-foot CA1 data center recently earned the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star certification. Meanwhile, its second 250,000 square-foot CA2 data center was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification by the US Green Building Council.

“We are delighted that our customers are able to benefit from the improved energy efficiency and innovative green technology that has been incorporated into these two facilities,” said Yatish Mishra, president and CEO of StrataScale. “Environmental stewardship is one of our top corporate priorities, and we are proud to be able to offer some of the industry’s most efficient, secure and reliable data centers.”

The EPA’s Energy Star certification recognized efficiency improvements to the CA1 building’s data floor chillers, airflow monitoring and HVAC plant pumps, which were retrofitted with variable-frequency drive motors.

These improvements will also be implemented in RagingWire’s newest 140,000 square-foot data center, which is set to open in the second quarter. The improvements will save more than 10 million kilowatt-hours of energy annually.

The two Sacramento data centers recently were validated as fully compliant with the PCI DSS. RagingWire successfully completed its latest SSAE 16 Type II data center audit with no exceptions, which includes in-depth testing of controls and practices.
