(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — White label online data storage provider Steek (www.steekbackup.com) has unveiled “Steek Backup,” a new online service that lets users securely store virtually unlimited data remotely for a subscription fee of €59 (about $82.50) per year.
According to the French software developer’s Wednesday announcement, users can securely restore any backed-up file online at any time.
“I am very proud to announce the release of the new service Steek Backup,” Steek chief executive officer Christophe Camborde said in a statement, adding, “My mother can sleep now that she knows she won’t lose my kids’ pictures.”
While Steek Backup can be purchased by individuals directly, Steek provides its online backup as an add-on service to ISPs and Telcos. As Camborde had previously stated, “Telcos and ISPs are moving from pipe to content! IPTV is the most obvious example and online storage is another!” he said.
“Today more gigabytes are produced globally from everybody’s camera or camcorder, email or blog entries…than from any other source. Online storage is a wonderful tool to enrich the relationship between the Telco and its customers and thus increase ARPU and reduce churn.”
