(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Holding company and startup incubator Warrior Girl Corp announced on Friday that it has acquired HostWire in an all stock transaction. The details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2002, HostWire provides domain registration and budget web hosting services for individuals and small businesses. Warrior Girl says it helps take companies to the next level through investment and financial support.

The acquisition will provide web hosting and domain registration to online start-up businesses supported by Warrior Girl. The deal illustrates the vital nature of web space and domain names in starting a business and developing a recognizable brand. Web hosts have an opportunity to align themselves with startup incubators to acquire a new wave of customers in need of all types of web-related services. Recently, Microsoft announced that it is working with startup accelerator TechStars to provide startups with free Windows Azure compute and storage.

According to its website, Warrior Girl Group makes investments in early stage companies and seed investments in spin-outs from universities, web entities and larger tech companies.

“These are exciting times for us,” Julian Sula, principal of Hostwire.com said in a statement. “Not only does HostWire stand on its own as a business competing with the likes of Go Daddy and HostGator, but it will provide the infrastructure for current and future WRGL online projects.”

Sula was named the new CEO of Warrior Girl last week, with a background in design, programming, internet marketing and information technology, Sula will help fold more online companies under the WRGL umbrella.

Warrior Girl says its acquisition of Hostwire is the first of several acquisitions of online properties it intends to make. The press release did not hint at what types of online properties it was in the process of acquiriing or any other plans.

With this acquisition, new HostWire customers will get a 50 percent discount off of its services when they use the coupon code WRGL.
