The front page of the Intel AppUp marketplace, for which Comodo is now offering code signing
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — SSL certificate authority and Internet security firm Comodo (www.comodo.com) announced this week that it has introduced a new code signing service for the Intel AppUp developer program community, addressing the program’s requirement that Windows-based applications be signed by a certificate authority.
The Intel AppUp program is a application marketplace built by the chip maker for Netbook computers, designed to offer developers an easy means of getting their applications onto desktops, and users with an easy way of finding and installing those apps.
Code signing certificates are generally provided to software developers by CAs as a means of verifying that downloadable software is authentic and has not been corrupted.
“We are delighted to have been selected as the provider of code signing services to the Intel AppUp developer program,” says James Langman, Comodo vice president of business development, quoted in the company’s announcement. “Developers for the Intel AppUpâ center can now take advantage of this fantastic offer and add further authenticity and security to their applications.”
