Spotbowl Picks Peer 1 Web Hosting

February 1, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation provider and dedicated hosting provider Peer 1 Network (peer1.com) said on Tuesday that it had added SPOTBOWL (spotbowl.com) as a new customer.

Peer 1 will provide the infrastructure for SPOTBOWL’s live polling about this year’s Super Bowl commercials. Visitors can vote for commercials on the spotbowl.com Web site and view results in real time.

“This is our third year of running the consumer poll,” says Michael Pavone, president of Pavone advertising and public relations, creators of SPOTBOWL. “Our traffic has increased significantly from 12,000 hits in our first year to 196,000 last year. That’s an awful lot of traffic in a two-day period, so we want to ensure that our network infrastructure can handle the further growth we expect in 2006.”

Pavone says it selected Peer 1 because of its network’s reputation for handling high traffic volumes.

Voting may include an ad from Web hosting provider Go Daddy, which isĀ currently seeking the approval of ABC’s standards board for an apparently racy spot.
