Irish cloud host Spiral Hosting announced on Monday that it has acquired Australian web host SpeedySparrow. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Based in Melbourne, SpeedySparrow has a large Australian and American client base, both of which Spiral Hosting plans to tap into with this acquisition.
Headquartered in Ireland with offices in Belfast and Dublin, Spiral Hosting expanded into the US hosting market in May 2010 with the acqusition of the hosting division of Eideashop.
“Spiral Hosting are delighted to announce the acquisition of SpeedySparrow,” Peter Armstrong, director of Spiral Hosting said. “This acquisition allows us to expand and invest in our operations in Australia. It represents a significant investment in our web hosting infrastructure, customer service and technical support.”
“The new merged company will result in improvements for all Spiral Hosting and SpeedySparrow customers. Our top three objectives are excellent servers, fast support and most importantly happy customers,” Armstrong said. “The SpeedySparrow team will be joining Spiral Hosting. We’ll be taking the best of both businesses and continuing to build our hosting services, cloud infrastructure and 24/7 support.”
Microsoft recently announced a major expansion to its data center in Dublin, Ireland, which acts as its primary facility for cloud computing services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
