(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Florida-based custom IT solutions, managed services, and data center provider Spiderhost (www.spiderhost.com) has opened the company’s fourth data center in Sayreville, New Jersey, bolstering its unfailing service through the hurricane season and beyond.
Much like Spiderhost’s Atlanta data center, which went online less than a year ago, according to Spiderhost’s Wednesday announcement, the new Sayreville facility will serve as “hurricane insurance,” complete with a network and servers that act as a backup for the company’s two Orlando data centers.
Spiderhost president Dale Frohman said he is pleased with the time frame. “With this new Sayreville data center and our Atlanta data center both fully operational we’re 100 percent confident that we can meet any challenge hurricane season throws at us,” Frohman said in a statement.
The Sayreville data center is the fourth of six planned facilities, which will ensure 100 percent uptime, with data sync and geographically distributed backups so there is virtually no way data can be lost.
Spiderhost senior network administrator Erik Rodriquez said configuring its four data centers so that any one can serve as the main service area with the others acting as backup prepares the company for anything “Mother Nature” has in store. “Most people worry about hurricanes, but we’re prepared for that and more,” Rodriquez said in a statement. “Whether it’s wild fires, sink holes, earthquakes, or man-made disasters, our four data centers act as mirrors of each other. This way our customers remain online and operational in the event one or two data centers are affected.”
