Spiderhost Announces PCI DSS Compliance

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Custom IT solution, managed service, and data center service provider Spiderhost (www.spiderhost.com) has announced its compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, meaning that it meets the requirements setup by the major credit card companies to regulate the storage of cardholder information and the implementation of security standards.

PCI-approved scanning vendor SecurityMetrics (www.securitymetrics.com) completed reviews of Spiderhost’s hosting network, encryption, and security in May and July, according to the Orlando, Florida-based host’s Friday announcement. Both scans determined that Spiderhost is compliant with the PCI scan validation requirement of the PCI data security initiative.

“What this means for our dedicated server and colocation customers is lower transaction costs and fewer worries, because we handle all of their PCI DSS compliance issues,” Spiderhost president Dale Frohman said in a statement.

He also said that being PCI compliant assures Spiderhost customers that industry standards for security, confidentiality, and cardholder data protection are being upheld. “This is just one more benefit of outsourcing hardware and network management. By using our servers they don’t have to worry about monitoring and maintaining physical security, operating system patches, or other security. In a nutshell, they can focus on their core business and sales, not IT,” Frohman said.
